It features such iconic lines as:

Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!

And

Tis but a scratch!

From the creators of the hit cartoon South Park comes this Thunderbirds-inspired puppet movie which talks about the US War on Terror and criticizes American foreign policy through the use of satire.

Team America: World Police (2004) is praised for its borderline genius and self-aware use of wooden puppets, even when filming a scandalous sex scene. And if you’re still wondering, yes the entire film is acted out by wooden marionettes.

More than a decade after its making, this film’s commentary still applies to today’s world and its current political state.

Now, we won’t tell you the entire story as this film is better watched than reading about.

3. Monty Python’s Life of Brian (1979)

Life of Brian (1979)
John Cleese, Graham Chapman, and Michael Palin in Life of Brian (1979)

Life of Brian is perhaps Monty Python’s magnum opus.

It tackles the controversial topic of religion and faith in their signature satiric but intelligent comedy. The plot follows, Brian, who was ‘almost the Messiah’ being born in a nearby manager on the same day as Jesus Christ.

We see him grow up on the sidelines of Jesus’ life in Roman-occupied Jerusalem and eventually become a prophet himself (although accidentally).

While it surely ruffled a few Catholic feathers with its ‘sacrilegious’ portrayal of the life of Jesus Christ as it related to Brian’s, it’s a must watch for every person looking for a laugh or two Catholic or not.
