The past few years have been great for Marvel comics-based films with big blockbuster hits like Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther and Deadpool 2.
But among Marvel’s legion of great characters, one particular group stands out. Dubbed as the premier team, the Avengers are composed of some of the most interesting and powerful characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

We’re sure fans have their own lists of favorites but we’ve taken it upon ourselves to rank all members of the Avengers based on which is the most powerful.

10. Winter Soldier
Don’t let his edgy teen look fool you because Bucky Barnes (better known as the Winter Soldier) is a formidable force to be reckoned with in the Marvel Comics Universe.
A veteran of many assassination missions, he has become a legend within spy circles. And now that he has appeared in three Captain America and one Avenger movie, all of us have seen him go against a great number of Avengers and can gauge where his awesome skills place among them. With his new metal arm, care of T’Challa, we’re excited to see him in the next installment of the Avengers films.
9. War Machine
We expect no less from Tony Stark’s best buddy himself. Rhodey Rhodes (also known as War Machine) with his high-tech armor makes top 9 on our list.
With his powerful suit armor on, War Machine practically becomes a walking fighter jet with enough guns and missiles to see a war through. Well, that’s what having friends in high places get you in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Imagine trying to fight off a literal war machine which has the capacity to shoot missiles from hundreds of feet away. The Winter Soldier’s solitary metal arm doesn’t stand a chance.
8. Spiderman
Fans have waited so long for his much-anticipated addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we finally got to watch him hang out with our favorite characters (although not for long) in the Avengers: Infinity War.
Despite his relative youth, Peter Parker’s alternative ego, Spiderman, is a complete badass. We saw him get the upper hand against the Winter Soldier, Ant-Man and Falcon during his debut in Captain America: Civil War. And he’s even become more powerful with that suit the genius playboy Tony Stark designed for him.

7. Captain America
Captain America is a triple threat. He has superpowers, an (almost) indestructible shield and excellent fighting skills. And if we add his charismatic personality to the list, we got a really powerful Avenger.
Further proof of his power is the long list of characters he has beaten (some of them also on this list). Remember when he won a fistfight against Spiderman or that footrace against Falcon? However, there is one other Avenger on this list he can’t seem to beat. Can you guess who it is? Well, you gotta keep reading this list if you want to know.
6. Iron Man
It’s difficult to hate this character. No wonder he’s the favorite Avenger of a lot of Marvel fans. Ever since his first appearance in the first Iron Man film almost a decade ago, Tony Stark has charmed, impressed and fought his way to the hearts of many fans.
But what’s interesting about him is that unlike most Avengers, Iron Man doesn’t have any superpowers (unless you’re counting intellect as one). This ‘genius billionaire playboy philanthropist’ wins his battles through his powerful self-made armor decked with high-tech weaponry believed to be more destructive than nuclear reactors.
More importantly, Iron Man earned his position on our list with that heart-thumping standstill at the end of Captain America: Civil War.
5. Black Panther
This year’s breakout star and 5th most powerful Avenger are King T’Challa of Wakanda (also known as the Black Panther).
Like Tony, T’Challa has a high-tech armor suit but his advantage lies in the entire country that the rules and in turn support him. And did we mention how advanced Wakanda is? What more, he also has mystical connections with the Panther goddess Bast who gives him more strength.
With the backing of an entire nation and an actual god, Black Panther is definitely a force to be reckoned with in the MCU. Wakanda forever.
4. Scarlet Witch
In the Marvel comics, the Scarlet Witch (also known as Wanda Maximoff) is a crossover character from the X-Men comics. But in the MCU, she is a very powerful mutant with telekinetic and telepathic powers. However, fans speculate that she is more powerful in the comics than in the movies, so we aren’t really sure if we should’ve ranked her higher or lower.
Anyway, with or without her magic, the fact that she was able to take down some of the Avengers when she was still under Ultron’s command still remains. Good thing she crossed over to the good side, eh?
3. The Vision
The Vision is an android based on Stark’s famous JARVIS AI. He is powered by the Mind Gem which was previously used by everyone’s favorite villain, Loki, to control and bring a battalion of aliens to invade Earth during the first Avengers movie.
Despite being a droid, The Vision can almost be considered godlike with the combination of the Mind Gem, a powerful AI and laser blasts that make his being. Tony Stark and Bruce Banner surely made the right decision when they uploaded JARVIS to an artificial body.
2. Thor
Of course, we can’t forget the actual God of Thunder on this list. With his magic hammer, ability to command storms and move faster than lightning, Thor’s power can definitely make the bravest Avenger tremble in fear.
Being the son of an even more powerful god (who commands other powerful gods), Thor is the prince of Asgard which houses characters just as equally strong as he is. And have we told you about that crest of mass-destruction weapons his father’s keeping under their castle? Even a charming genius billionaire playboy philanthropist doesn’t stand a chance.
1. The Hulk
The top stop goes to Bruce Banner’s raging alter ego The Hulk.
In both the comics and the movies, The Hulk has literally roused a fight and beat almost every Avenger in the MCU. Iron Man, Loki, the entirety of the US Army and, yes, even Thor himself, The Hulk has defeated every one of them in a fight.
Remember that iconic exchange between Tony Stark and Loki in the first Avengers movie in 2012? Loki may have an army, but the Avenger have a Hulk.
