7Tangled (2010)
The fairy tale Rapunzel finally gets a much needed Disney animated version with Tangled (2010).
The film expounds on the classic tale and Rapunzel’s origins as a kidnapped princess with magical age-reversing, healing blonde hair. It shows how her kidnapper Gothel tricked her into being imprisoned in a tower telling her lies about the supposedly cruel outside world.
Tangled (2010) is definitely one of Disney’s best modern adaptation of classic fairy tales. It brought Disney back to its former glory as an animation studio and proved that they can still create a classic princess film but with a modern twist this time.
6Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) was Disney’s ticket to international fame and its first feature-length animated feature.
Disney captivated audiences with a tale filled with loveable sidekick dwarfs, handsome princes, terrifying witches and who would be Disney’s first princess. What more, the film’s technical aspects hold up well today making all the risk Disney took to make it very much worth it.

You probably know the story by now. Cinderella’s life is made miserable by the entry of a new stepmother and two stepsisters in her life when her father remarries after her mother dies. One day her household receives an invitation to a ball which the stepmother decides Cinderella isn’t invited to. But with the help of her mice friends and a fairy godmother, she is given one night to be somebody else and attend the ball where the prince falls in love with her.
Due to the film’s popularity and enduring legacy, Cinderella has become one of the most recognizable fairy tale princesses along with Snow White.
3Aladdin (1992)
Most memorable for Robin Williams’ excellent performance as the genie, Aladdin (1992) one of the best Disney movies, tells the story of a young street urchin who is given three wishes after he frees a genie from a magic lamp.
But most importantly, the film introduced the world to the first non-white Disney princess, Jasmine. The film is a great mix of comedy, adventure, and love story backed by excellent performances by voice actors. Tale as old as time indeed. Disney adapts the French fairy tale Beauty and the Beast into an animated musical film and one of the Best Disney Movies ever made.
The film follows the smart and beautiful Belle, who is exasperated of small-town life, and The Beast, a formerly human prince cursed by a witch because of his lack of the ability for kindness and love.
Beauty and the Beast was an instant classic at the time of its release and remains popular among children today. Proof of this is its live-action adaptation starring Emma Watson as Belle.
1The Lion King (1994)
WIth a live action version coming out in 2019, let’s take a look back onto the original Disney’s animated film The Lion King (1994) which captured our hearts as kids.
Considered to be the best animated musical film ever created, the film is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s tragic play Hamlet but set in the kingdom of a pride of lions in the African Sahara.
The film is memorable for introducing us to memorable and beloved songs like I Just Can’t Wait to Be King and Elton John’s Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
