Faf du Plessis was born and raised in Pretoria, Transvaal province. He went to the same school as his fellow cricketers AB de Villiers, Jacques Rudolph and Heino Kuhn who later played together in the Titans team. This school is called Afrikaanse Hoer Seunskool, translated; Afrikaans High School for Boys. This was a local public school in his hometown. Early Career

Du Plessis early career started at a domestic level. He was recognized for his excellent performances in the local leagues called Nottinghamshire league. He also played for the Todmorden in the Lancashire league. His performances in the local league matches earned him a contract of six months with the Lancashire in the 2008 session. The Chennai Super Kings bought him in the Indian Premier League for about US$120,000.

Faf Du Plessis international career started around the year of 2011. In his debut, he played excellently against India in a One Day International by scoring 60 runs. For his test debut, he played against Australia in 2012 where he was selected in place for the injured South African player JP Duminy. He scored an unbeatable 188 runs and won the award of Man of the match. In the next test match, he scored 78 runs and showed a great partnership which eventually made South Africa win the match. After making South Africa win against Australia, he was named a captain for his T20 team in December. In the next test match, he scored 134 runs against India. He scored his first maiden century in an ODI in 2014 while playing against Australia. His and AB de Villiers partnership became the highest of 204 runs against Australia.
