Education Background

According to resources, DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir was his school, where he became an expert in badminton and football. Later he was selected to play for different clubs. He used to be the goalkeeper for his football team. After seeing his attraction towards the cricket, his coach decided to send him to different cricket clubs. The fact is he didn’t know how to play cricket, but soon he has been discovered as the wicketkeeper after describing his wicketkeeping skills. After this, his coaches decided to make him the regular wicketkeeper. In 1995 he was assigned the duties to play as the wicketkeeper for Commando Cricket Club because of his good wicket keeping skills.

He remained as the wicketkeeper for Commando Cricket Club till 1998. After his excellent wicket-keeping skills, he played in under 16 championship from 1997 to 1998. He performed very well in the season of Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

Career

Devel Sahay selected him to play for the Central Coal Fields Limited in 1998. In that time he was in 12th standard and has played the only small tournament in his college. He has no experience in professional cricket. After seeing his batting skills, Devel Sahay badly wanted him to play for CCl. He offered him to pay 50 for hitting each six.

During the tournament, Dhoni was offered to play top of the order for CCL. Playing on the top order, he performed very well and availing the opportunity; he scored the first century of his career. He scored many centuries during the tournament. Because of his centuries, CCL managed to get on division A for the first time.

After seeing his impressive performance and hard hitting during the tournament, Devel Sahay asked the Bihar Cricket Association to select him for the Bihar Region. At that time Devel Sahay is ex-vice president of this association and president of Ranchi District Cricket.

After the efforts of Devel Sahay, MS Dhoni was selected to play for the junior as well as for the senior Bihar Ranji team for the season 1999-2000. Dhoni moved to Bihar Ranji team in one year. He was also selected to play as under 19 for Bihar team. Later on, while playing for Bihar team, he scored 176 runs for five matches. After playing for many tournaments and consecutive hard work, MS Dhoni has selected for India A team in 2003 where he was chosen to play against Zimbabwe and Kenya. Where he managed to catch seven times and succeeded in 4 of stumping.

During the tri-series between India A, Pakistan A, and Kenya, Dhoni managed to define his skills perfectly, and due to his half-century, India managed to chase the target of 223 against Pakistan A. During the tournament he made consecutive centuries and scored 362 run in 6 innings. His average during the match was 72.40. After performing in the tournament, Sourav Ganguly selected him for the Indian Cricket Team.
